Nikon 300 Blackout review

Application is for a DPMS LR-308. I was looking for a high quality scope with low variable power that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I know this particular Nikon scope is made for the 300 Blackout, not my .308, but the price and modest 2-7 magnification was right in the ballpark of my needs for a Scout/Sniper type set up. The 300 Blackout at its high end loadings approaches the ballistic characteristics of the .308 Win/7.62 NATO round out to 200-300 meters so I thought I'd give the Nikon P-300 BDC a try on my rifle. I'm happy to say the the scope performs wonderfully for my needs and I was just about right in my predictions for its abilities out to 300 meters using the .308 cartridge. Beyond that range I've found that holding the crosshairs a little bit more to the center line works pretty well out to the 500-600 meter distance. The magnification on the P-300 covers that distance well but anything beyond that was not really in my application needs anyway. I know there are a lot more of you out there, at least right now, using the .308 than the 300 Blackout so this scope might be something that interests you out to moderate ranges. The overall quality for the Nikon P-300 BDC is quite good and its performance rivals other scopes costing much more. It's been a good purchase and a great value for me.
